I’m really liking what I’ve been seeing from Arc Raiders over the last few weeks in the lead up to its major Frozen Trails update. It feels like the devs have stacked up a slew of quality-of-life improvements in preparation for this big ‘2.0 moment’.
A PvE mode is the one the bigger changes, but there’s also a few smaller tweaks which could have a major impact on the game and its replayability: Such as the dynamic loot zones, mentioned above.
I stopped playing Arc Raiders so frequently because, quite frankly, it’d become stale. I’d done my expeditions a couple of times, worked through all of the quests, and explored every nook and cranny of each map. I knew where all the best loot was, so each game gradually just became a copy and paste run to the same spots and back to extraction.
For a long time, Embark relied on the PvP element of Arc Raiders to add some spice into runs, and it did for a while, but soon the game was bogged down by cheaters or assholes who lied or extraction camped. So finding other ways outside of relying on player interactions to keep Arc Raiders games fresh? Sounds like a great idea to me, at least until further action against cheaters in PvP is addressed.
