Local Man Benjamin Burnley interrupts a Breaking Benjamin concert with a rant about his True First Person 1.2 Fallout 4 mod

An amazing scene played out over the weekend at a Breaking Benjamin concert in Holmdel, NJ, as captured by Reddit user im_all_ears (embedded above).

Band frontman Benjamin Burnley spent over four minutes imploring the audience to download his Fallout 4 mod in an effort to stick it to another modder who Burnley says bullied him over the quality of his work.

“There was a modder in the community that was really mean to me and bullying me, saying, ‘Oh, your mod is shit. You don’t know what you’re fucking doing,'” said Burnley. “So I’m doing this every fucking night, and blowing his fucking downloads out of the water.”

That was a mere two minutes into the four-and-a-half minute rant. Someone behind the scenes at the venue even joined in, putting the mod’s details up on screens.

“Even if you fuckin’ don’t play that game, go and download it. It’s on Nexus Mods,” said Burnley. “Tomorrow I better see all my motherfuckin’ downloads going up.”

An attendee shouts: “Play some music!” Burnley keeps going, telling the audience that he’s about to deploy a new update, and to wait for that version before downloading it.

“When you post a mod, you’re supposed to be able to grow and learn and make it better,” Burnley said. “And right off the bat, this fucking asshole was shitting on my mod.”

Sure enough, the mod, which is called ‘True First Person,’ was last updated on Sunday. Here’s how Burnely describes the mod on its Nexus Mods page:

“Fallout 4’s vanilla first person shows a pair of floating arms. This mod replaces that with a True First Person perspective where your player character’s full body is rendered and visible in first person. Look down and you’ll see your body, legs, clothing and equipped gear as part of the same character you see in third person. Your perspective also stays in first person during interactions that would normally force the camera out, such as workstations, power armor, etc.”

The mod is tagged “AI assisted,” so presumably an amount of vibe coding went into it. The comments are now full of fans reacting to the concert, which makes it hard to find any actual assessments of how well it works, but Burnley has posted a video of the mod in action.

“Brother I’m at your concert right now. You have my download,” reads one post on the mod’s page. Burnley, whose Nexus Mods username is killemloud, thanked the poster that same night, after the show.

Breaking Benjamin was formed in 1999, and has a previous connection to gaming: the single “Blow Me Away,” which it recorded for the Halo 2 soundtrack.
