The Kirkland, Wash.-based data protection and ransomware recovery company announced Tuesday that it’s extending its founding sponsorship of the Seattle-area Major League Cricket team through 2027.

With its logo on team jerseys, Veeam has been partnering with the Orcas since 2023 — part of the deep tech-community backing that has helped get the team and sport off the ground. Other notable investors include: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella; Madrona Venture Group Managing Director S. Soma Somasegar; Icertis co-founder and CEO Samir Bodas; GreatPoint Ventures managing partner Ashok Krishnamurthi; and former Microsoft and Avalara executive Sanjay Parthasarathy.

“Partnering with the Seattle Orcas isn’t just about logos on jerseys; it’s about rallying behind a shared passion for resilience and excellence,” Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran said in a news release.

Veeam relocated its headquarters from Ohio to Kirkland in 2024, drawn by the close proximity of major cloud providers and the deep pool of technical talent.

The company was valued at $15 billion in December, and in February, Microsoft made an equity investment in Veeam that deepened their ongoing partnership.

Founded in 2006, Veeam has more than 5,000 employees globally, in more than 30 countries, with U.S. offices in Ohio, New York, Georgia and Arizona.

Seattle Orcas CEO Hemant Dua called Veeam’s support the team’s “secret weapon.”

“This partnership is about building community, driving innovation, and making cricket America’s summer spectacle and the Seattle Orcas America’s favorite cricket team,” Dua said in a statement.

The 2025 MLC season kicks off June 12, with the Orcas facing Washington Freedom on June 14.
