After exactly two years in early access, shoujo-ified farm sim Fields of Mistria 1.0 is launching. Whether you’ve been playing consistently all this time or coming back after trying it two years ago, here’s what you need to know about what’s changing in the full release version of Mistria.

Fields of Mistria 1.0 highlights

Town story complete

Rest your weary hands from all those donation box deliveries. Mistria will finally be fulyl repaired and upgraded after its earthquake thanks to your tireless material gathering.

Fields of Mistria - March and the player stand together at a wedding altar in front of a crowd

10 heart events

Mistria launched with just four unlockable friendship hearts per character, adding eight over early access. In the full release, you can unlock a 10 heart cutscene with datable characters.

Fields of Mistria - Juniper holds a purple haired infant Rune in her arms while talking to her spouse

Marriage & children

Finally, you’ll be able to move on from dating your beaus to choosing just one to marry and have children with. Seeing your partner carry your baby around is, frankly, adorable.

Fields of Mistria - Stillwell the merchant talks to the player at his Saturday Market stall

New Saturday merchants

Two new merchants join the weekly Saturday Market lineup: Stillwell and Zorel.

Achievements system

Mistria is also getting an achievements system which will reward you retroactively.

Should you start a new save for 1.0?

You don’t need to start a new save file for the 1.0 launch and personally I didn’t. The biggest changes coming in the launch version of the game are mostly ones being added on to extend the story, so it shouldn’t feel weird to play through even if you’re in year three or four. I’ve come back to play Mistria a couple times after its early access updates and story content that’s been added has always felt like a pretty natural flow from where I left off.

You also won’t need a new save file to get any of the new achievements added to the game. They’ll all be earned retroactively based on what you’ve done in your save so far.

What if you haven’t played since the early access launch?

There have been several major updates over the past two years. If you stopped playing early on and are just coming back, here are some features you might not immediately realize were added:

  • Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28 that you can invite a date to attend
  • Harvest Festival in fall and Animal Festival in winter
  • Riding mounts after upgrading Hayden’s barn
  • You can buy an expansion for your farm property from the carpenter’s shop (and home size upgrades too)
  • Greenhouses are available, but only after reaching renown level 70
  • Apiaries for farming honey are now craftable
  • After upgrading the general store you can buy a seed maker to turn crops (or forage) into their seed versions
