First reported by GamesRadar, former Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida is apparently just like us: He loves Bloodborne, and he doesn’t get why Sony and FromSoftware haven’t done anything with it since its November, 2015 expansion, The Old Hunters.

Yoshida’s remarks were part of his keynote address at Japan’s CEDEC Industry event. Yoshida structured the talk around impactful, memorable games he encountered over the course of his almost 40-year career with Sony—this included his first hands-on experience with Demon’s Souls, and Sony missing out on the chance to publish Dark Souls.

“This game has a lot of fans all over the world, and it still doesn’t have a PS5 version,” Yoshida said regarding Bloodborne. “PlayStation’s first-party team is releasing a ton of remasters, so why don’t they release this one? There’s no PC release.

“I am often asked why these haven’t been released, but it’s a complete mystery. Maybe they’ll come out in the future. Maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll make a special edition. Maybe they won’t. As a huge fan, I hope it will come out.”

There’s certainly a degree of “buddy, wasn’t that your job?” energy to a former Sony executive lamenting Sony’s lack of action, but it makes more sense considering the timeline and Yoshida’s portfolio before his 2025 retirement. He switched to being head of PlayStation Indies in 2019, just four years after Bloodborne’s release and before the start of the PS5 generation.

I’m a simple man, and all I’ve ever wanted is Bloodborne as it was, but playable at arbitrary resolutions and framerates on PC. The notion of a remaster never appealed to me, but that doesn’t even appear to be on the table anymore after Sony had its go-to remaster studio, Bluepoint, devote its resources to a God of War Multiplayer game before shutting it down. Even more mystifying has been the lack of a 60fps or 4K patch for, at this point, PS4 Pro, PS5, or PS5 Pro.

And at this point, I don’t think the discless, PC-scorning, maximum customer value-chasing Sony of 2026 could produce a version of Bloodborne superior to PS4 emulation. You need a hearty rig—Steam Deck is unfortunately out—but Bloodborne emulation looks like it’s in a shockingly strong place. I just need to set aside the time and startup energy to dump my old Blu-ray copy one of these days.
