The Division Resurgence: Steam Launch Trailer – YouTube

Watch On

Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence originally launched on mobile before coming to PC via Ubisoft Connect (the artist formerly known as Uplay) in April. Earlier this month it arrived on Steam, where it hasn’t received the warmest welcome.

Overall its review rating is currently sitting at “mixed” with just 46% of reviews leaning to the positive. Players are frustrated by login issues, mouse bugs, and the looter-shooter’s combination of underwhelming rewards and overwhelming microtransactions.

“Calling it slop disrespects actual slop”, says one user review. “I’ve seen Korean gacha games with less microtransaction than this. This is scummy even for a F2P. It has [t]he most distracting, convoluted, overcomplicated on purpose and bad thought UI and Menus design I’ve ever seen in a video-game. You spend more time micro-managing than playing missions!”

“Complete ass game”, begins another review. “Balancing is the main issue, as well as loot progression. All the loot is locked behind daily completions, and you only get to do those maybe 4-5 times a day. Then the game scales the xp and rewards down hard! This isn’t a looter-shooter, its a daily log-in simulator with Division like systems. Like what everyone else is saying, just play Division 1 or 2, this game isn’t worth the time.”

As with the mainline Division games, it’s a third-person shooter where you play a member of the Strategic Homeland Division trying to restore order after the “Green Flu” epidemic reduces the USA to chaos. Like the first game it’s set in New York, and lets you fight your way across locations like Liberty Island and the New York Stock Exchange, for which you’re rewarded with loot like a selection of slightly different tactical beanies and baseball caps.
