Finding Vrakhir blood in Blood of Dawnwalker might trip you up a bit if you’re looking to unlock new abilities and generally mess about as a creature of the night. While you acquire most skills in the tree naturally as you drink blood and just generally be a vampire, some specific skills only become available when you “drink Vrakhir blood” and it’s not clear exactly how. Below, I’ll explain where to get it, plus how to unlock all Vrakhir blood-related abilities.

The main way you drink Vrakhir blood is by defeating the game’s Vrakhir bosses, namely, Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe, and then choosing to drink from them. Supping the blood of these three vampires unlocks different abilities, namely:

  • Ambrus – Scarlet Shield
  • Bakir – Shadowstorm
  • Xanthe – Blood Surge

Unlike earning skills by consuming blood and increasing your corruption, drinking from any of the Vrahkir bosses will literally give you their abilities, no skill points required. You can also drink Vrakhir blood by finding vials of it when defeating Murohn in their dens at nighttime, or through certain quests, like Xanthe’s Recruiters in Tantari Woods and The Silts, or Lost Blood in St. Tyna’s Grove.

These vials act a bit like manuals for Swordmastery and Witchcraft skills, letting you unlock additional levels of an ability, though you can also gain the ability by consuming these, too. Besides the three above, you can earn the remaining Vrakhir blood abilities through Lacra’s questline, which you can start in Svartrau, or with a note you get after defeating Ambrus.

  • Piercing Shriek – By completing Our Rotten Roots quest.
  • Mesmerize – By eating the mandrake at the end of The Night of Horrors quest.

Otherwise, all of the other vampiric abilities unlock through raising your Corruption. Drinking Vrahkir blood will raise it considerably also, so it’s a good way to fast track your growth.
