Before the Seattle Sounders topped Inter Miami in dramatic fashion to capture their first Leagues Cup championship, a smattering of tech execs roamed the pitch at Lumen Field on Sunday before the big match.
We spotted several Seattle-area tech leaders who have ownership stakes in the Sounders, including Truveta CEO Terry Myerson, Microsoft CFO Amy Hood, Zapier CTO Chee Chew, Redapt CEO Rick Cantu, and former Microsoft leader Joe Belfiore.

Several other tech execs are also part of the Sounders ownership group including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky.
There is plenty of crossover between Seattle’s tech sector and the city’s pro sports franchises. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, for example, is a minority owner of the Seattle Kraken hockey team. Paul Allen, the late Microsoft co-founder, owned the Seattle Seahawks football team.
The Sounders were the seventh-most valuable Major League Soccer team as of February 2025, according to Forbes, at $800 million — up from $310 million in 2018.
Other high-profile guests on the field Sunday included comedian and longtime Sounders owner Drew Carey and Inter Miami owner David Beckham.

In front of a raucous and record crowd of 69,314 at Lumen Field, the Sounders defeated Inter Miami to claim the Leagues Cup 2025 championship. The Sounders held soccer legend Lionel Messi and his team in check for a convincing 3-0 win, becoming the first team to win all five major North American soccer trophies.
