Seattle-based pet-sitting marketplace giant Rover announced the acquisition of Gudog, a dog-sitting and walking network operating in eight European countries. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- The deal will help boost Rover’s expansion across Europe. It announced Tuesday that it is now live in Denmark and Ireland, and there are plans to launch in Switzerland, Finland, Austria, Poland, and Belgium as well.
- Gudog, founded in Dublin in 2015, has 20,000 dog sitters and walkers on its platform. It employs fewer than 10 people.
- Rover acquired another European company, Cat in a Flat, last year. Rover itself was acquired in a $2.3 billion deal with Blackstone last year. It has around 550 employees globally.
