Deciding whether to invite Ambrus in is a tough choice in Blood of Dawnwalker, especially as you don’t really know what “invite” means in this context. This rogue-ish Vrakhir certainly deserves hell for all the atrocities he committed bleeding Vale Sangora’s subjects, but maybe there’s more to him than meets the eye. Obviously, this guide will contain spoilers as to the immediate and eventual impact of this choice, so leave now if you don’t want to know.

If you invite Ambrus in, the main consequence is that he’ll talk to you throughout the rest of the game. I’m not talking full blown dialogue, but he’ll essentially make comments as a voice inside your head, about stuff you’re doing, such as when you make a choice, or in combat. In fact, there’s one Ambrus comment at a particular moment (I won’t spoil it) that made me laugh so much I consider it well worth inviting him just for that.

Does it have any consequences? Basically, no. The main impact is that Ambrus will help you a bit in the final boss, but he can also be turned against you in the fight itself, so it’s a ‘swings and roundabouts’ situation. The best way to decide is whether you think Ambrus deserves a shot at redemption, or if you want him to spend an eternity of torment in Anachora (vampire hell). The same applies to the other Vrakhiri boyars you can kill in Blood of Dawnwalker.

Inviting Ambrus doesn’t impact abilities, Corruption, or vampiric powers either. As long as you drank his Vrakhir blood (which, if you’re inviting him, you did) you’ll get his Scarlet Shield ability either way, and honestly, it’s one of the best in the game, healing you whenever you Perfect Block.
