Despite having no clue when GTA 6 is coming to PC, 39% of you are more than happy to wait for it

We’re yet to see a single drop of gameplay footage, but I can promise you Grand Theft Auto 6 is very real and definitely happening. At least, I certainly hope it is. Rockstar opened the door for pre-orders last week with its $80 and $100 versions, the latter of which I’m not overly jazzed about.

But we’re a mere five months out from exploring a modern-day Vice City and everything Leonida has to offer. Well… I say we. As far as PC goes, Rockstar has decided to not include us in what might be one of the most fervorous videogame events of the decade. Worse still, we have no idea when a PC version of GTA 6 is actually going to happen.

The sad fact is that Rockstar simply doesn’t deem us a core audience. I could sit here and rant and rave about how archaic that feels in the big 2026, but our own Harvey Randall has already gone ahead and done that for me.

So instead, let me go ahead and take a peek at the results of the poll I put out to you all last week: Are you going to buy GTA 6 on console, or wait for a PC version? And I say this in the least clickbait-y way possible, but the results did genuinely surprise me.

39% of you said you’re simply going to bunker down and wait for the game to come to PC. And you know what, I get it, Double-dipping on a game that expensive feels ridiculous, especially when we can wait a little longer and then (hopefully) get a superior experience—from both our hardware and also months of patches Rockstar will inevitably be pumping into the game.

I do have to admire your patience though, especially as someone who suffers from a bad case of FOMO. I’d like to get up on my high horse and declare myself perfectly capable of waiting. But, erm, I won’t. Because I definitely cannot wait.

That wasn’t the result that was entirely surprising to me, though. It is, in fact, the second most-voted option that really caught my attention: 28% of you said you have no interest in GTA 6 whatsoever, and so won’t be buying it.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Perhaps I’ve simply been spending too long in the eye of the Rockstar storm, but I had expected a good deal more of you to be in the FOMO camp alongside me. Or at least, to have some modicum of interest that had you side-eyeing a lack of PC release. Has the hype grown so feral that it’s turned you off entirely, or have you never been much of a Grand Theft Auto gamer to begin with? I’d love to know why you aren’t interested in the game down in the comments.

As for those of you who are interested, 16% of you said you’ll be picking up a copy on console. Whether that means you’ve already preordered or plan to scoop up the game closer to launch, at least a few of you will be diving into the action alongside our console pals. And a further 8% of you would buy GTA 6 on console… if you had one, that is. I’ll be manifesting a swift PC release for you.

A few of you are on the fence too, though—8% of you have said that you’re going to wait until the game is out and then make a decision. Pretty reasonable if you ask me! A game this big certainly runs the risk of being a veritable hotbed of bugs, glitches, or external discourse, so holding out to gauge initial reaction is probably the smart thing to do. Or, y’know, you’ll last a few hours before the hype train’s power becomes too much and you cave on the first day anyway.

Whatever you’re planning to do, let me know your reasons. Or lambast me for my terrible lack of self control and very real fear of missing out. Either one’ll do.
