The new skull modifiers added in Halo: Campaign Evolved do all sorts of things. There are classics like Grunt Birthday Party, but you can also swap to third-person perspective, playing the entire game over the shoulder should you wish.

Since this requires a skull, you’ll have to first find the collectible, and then activate the modifier when choosing a mission or rally point to make it active.

How to play third-person in Halo: Campaign Evolved

You’ll need to find the Perspective skull collectible to go third-person in Halo: Campaign Evolved, but thankfully you can get it right at the start of the game.

As shown in the video above, once you meet Captain Keyes on the bridge of the Pillar of Autumn and the cutscene has finished, you’ll want to walk just behind him to where the pilots are sitting in the front cockpit, and drop down into the space below them. Here, you’ll find the Perspective skull on the ground just off to the side. If you’ve already completed the first mission, then simply load Rally Point Bravo, which drops you in post-cutscene.

Once you have the skull, you’ll need to enable it, which means starting a new game on your most recent mission or rally point and toggling Perspective in the skull menu before launching.

The third-person perspective the game gives you is relatively close to the shoulder, so it’s not too bad when you’re indoors. When you use a scoped weapon and zoom, it will revert back to first-person, so you can still shoot your magnum like you would otherwise.
