PowerWash Simulator 2 developer FuturLab has announced a Star Wars DLC pack for its much-loved spray-cleaning sequel, publishing a preview teaser that promises players a chance to introduce the joys of pressurized purgation to the deserts of Tatooine, the frigid expanse of Hoth, and wherever the Rebel Alliance might have decided to park its X-wings.

The paid Star Wars pack isn’t the first time PowerWash has paired with a licensed property: The original PowerWash Sim had similar collabs with Warhammer 40K and Shrek, and there’s already an Adventure Time DLC available for PowerWash Sim 2. But it’s the first time in too long that a game has paid proper attention to the most critical component of Star Wars: grimy machinery.

Star Wars is an aesthetic experience built on a bedrock of filth and beat-up technology. The heart of Star Wars isn’t a lightsaber; it’s a decaying moisture vaporator in desperate need of a fresh power converter. It speaks its history with the vocabulary of weathered cowling and cobbled-together junk.

The Millennium Falcon is one of Star Wars’ most potent icons because it’s the space opera equivalent of your cool uncle’s prehistoric station wagon, with all the accumulated grime that implies. Every malfunctioning landing gear and sweat-stained seat cushion is proof of life lived a long time ago.

A Star Wars pack for PowerWash Sim is one of the series’ more interesting videogame offerings in recent memory, because—in a setting overstuffed with Skywalkers and Mandalorians—it’s a chance to embody its true heroes: Those maintenance personnel tasked with fighting a losing war against the grime of galactic-scale entropy to make it a little more livable.

Of course, while watching that preview trailer, you might be tempted to ask how much the DLC pack will be respecting that spirit when you’ll be pressure-washing X-wings to a spotless sheen. To that, I’d say it’s a chance to relearn one of the prequels’ more crucial lessons: that a Star Wars stripped of its dirt and disrepair has lost something along the way.

Power Wash Simulator 2’s Star Wars pack doesn’t have a release date yet, but FuturLabs says to expect it on Steam sometime this summer.
