Warhorse trademarks ‘Kingdom Come Salvation’ as fans pray in unison for another open-world RPG

Leave it to trademark filings to publicly utter the name of a new videogame before anyone else: The next Kingdom Come will almost surely be called Kingdom Come Salvation. Huzzah.

That’s according to an official trademark filing by Warhorse Studios itself with the EUIPO—first spotted by PhraseMaker—issued on July 23. Had the owners of the trademark not already been confirmed to be Warhorse, the styling of the Salvation logo (see below) would’ve been a dead giveaway, as is matching legal information for the Czech studio’s other trademarks.

While Warhorse has yet to comment on the name reveal, it did already say back in May that another “Kingdom Come Adventure” was inbound. That announcement came at the same time as their upcoming Middle-earth RPG—a high-profile project that I wager will become the studio’s primary focus in the years ahead.

I’m trying not to read too much into the wording of that initial announcement, nor the name. Warhorse described its LOTR game as an open world RPG, but the Kingdom Come followup simply as an adventure—will Salvation take on a different, smaller format? Will it be an RPG at all? God I hope so. Middle-earth is cool and all, but I’d take another Bohemian romp any day of the week, and this series still needs to get to Prague!

Phrasemaker calls attention to a section of the trademark that refers to “entertainment services for matching users with computer games,” which kinda sounds like Salvation will have multiplayer, or online functionally in the least. Intriguing.

If Salvation is another open world RPG on the scale of KCD2, it probably won’t star Henry of Skalitz. Warhorse has been open about closing the book on Henry’s story, and switching up the subtitle from “Deliverance” does suggest a fresh start.
