Ever since its first announcement in January last year, The Blood of Dawnwalker has looked extremely promising. An ambitious RPG from former The Witcher 3 devs is always going to catch our eye here at PC Gamer, and its vampiric twist—by day you’re a normal human, by night you’re a supernatural bloodsucker, and your approach to quests can wildly change as a result—is instantly intriguing.
But it wasn’t until I got to visit studio Rebel Wolves this month and talk to the team that I appreciated quite how exciting the game is shaping up to be. If the developer can deliver on its grand promises—of a sprawling sandbox story that adapts to the player no matter what order they approach quests or what choices they make—this could be the most interesting RPG of 2026.
So I’m very glad to hear that we haven’t got much longer to wait before we can play it. The game’s release date is now set for September 3 of this year—about 5 months off.

Knowing that a release date in the second half of 2026 was likely, I was also a bit worried the game would come out close to the shadow of GTA 6, but thankfully this places it over two months before Rockstar’s November 19 release date (assuming no further delays). That should be plenty of time to wring all the vital fluids out of The Blood of Dawnwalker before we’re forced to forget any other game exists for six months as everyone crime sprees they’re way around fake Florida.
