Embark is finally cracking down on Arc Raiders’ cheaters and duplication antics: ‘Our commitment to anti-cheat initiatives remains a top priority’

Arc Raiders has had its fair share of cheaters and game-breaking exploits, so much so that some players and big-name streamers have sworn it off. There are your usual wallhacks and whatnot, as well as exploits to spawn endless rubber duckies and equipment. Just recently, TheGamingMerchant put the duping exploits to the test, discovering just how bad it can be in high-end PvP.

But the time has finally come when we might start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Towards the end of May, Embark added Denuvo Anti-Cheat to “initially to a limited player pool” after finding success in The Finals. In the new update 1.33 patch notes, which brought the surprise Forgotten Relics event and Converging Paths project, Embark has confirmed it’s ready to kick things up a notch.

“As part of our ongoing efforts against unfair play, we’re continuing to expand Denuvo Anti-Cheat to more players,” the developers explain. “We’re pleased with the progress so far, and expect further improvement as we scale up.” For what it’s worth, I had to accept it when I downloaded the update today.

“Our commitment to anti-cheat initiatives remains a top priority, and we will keep you informed as we work to maintain a fair environment. We appreciate your ongoing feedback and reports, and we thank you for being a part of the incredible journey through Topside.”

Embark is also specifically honing in on the duplication exploits that have been undermining the item economy, noting that it’s “taking strict measures against those involved.” This includes detecting issues and addressing them directly, but also “building safeguards to prevent them from happening in the future.” It’s a little vague, sure, but it’s good to know that it’s a priority for Embark, given how disruptive it’s been for many players. It’s an extraction shooter after all, it’s literally all about the loot you find and risk.

On the flip side, if you’ve faced off against a cheater, there are a few improvements you’ll be glad about. There’s now a messaging system to let you know when a player you’ve reported has been banned, and/or when any loot you lost thanks to a cheater is returned to you. You don’t necessarily need to report the player to get your lost loot back, so long as Embark has taken action against them it’ll happen automatically.
