I love the thought of geysers in Minecraft, but hate the fact I know just how my friends will use them

I’m pretty sure everyone has a group of friends they actively avoid playing Minecraft with, solely because you know the second you leave your chests or base unattended it will be wrecked and ruined. Don’t get me wrong, I love a little giggle with my pals as much as the next person, but the number of times I’ve lost an inventory full of valuables because of a prank my friends have pulled have been enough to stop me from playing for a while in the past.

From elaborate piston traps to good old-fashioned TNT, the creative bounds of messing with your friends have no limits in Minecraft, and the upcoming Chaos Cubed update will inherently make this worse through adding the ability to craft geysers. With a magma block, a potent sulphur block, and a little pool of water, you can now create a blast of water that will send an unsuspecting player hurtling into the air.

This could be incredibly useful if you want to build some sort of launch point so you can take flight with the Elytra equipped, or if you need to send mobs away from your base in a flash. But I just know I’ll step out from my home after spending hours preparing for an expedition only to be sent flying into the air before hearing my friends cackle down their mics. It’s inevitable at this point, and I’ve already come to accept it before the update releases.

Outside of launch pads and pranks, I’m sure there are plenty of ways you can make use of geysers too, and frankly I’m excited to see how they’re used by players once they roll out officially. There’s bound to be plenty of elaborate machines I’ll desperately try to recreate before failing miserably and no doubt losing all my XP in the process. That’s part of the fun of new features like this though.

You don’t even have to wait to see what the geysers are capable of if you don’t want to. All of the features previously shared from the Chaos Cubed update, alongside the geysers, are available for testing in both Bedrock and Java editions, so if you want to start playing around and see what you can create, you’re free to. Maybe I need to start mastering the geyser before my friends have a chance to, that might stop me from meeting my demise time and time again.
