This month’s Humble Choice is worth a look if you like RPGs, Zelda-likes, fast-paced shooters, or violating people’s civil rights

Here’s a question that haunts me: are there people out there who actually keep a Humble Choice subscription going across multiple months? As far as I’m concerned, Humble Bundle’s monthly basket of games is just a bundle by another name. If the games are good, I drop some money, snag the keys, then cancel. The notion of leaving it rolling across multiple months, with no idea as to the games that are coming up, confuses and frightens me.

Anyway, all that’s just prelude to me telling you this: Humble Choice is pretty good this month. You might want to give it a look-in if you’re into old-school RPGs, the Zeldas of yore, horny shooters, or being a goddamn cop.

The headline items for this month’s selection are:

Latest Videos From
  • Sea of Stars
  • Tunic
  • Neon White

The games that get smaller boxouts are:

  • Police Simulator: Patrol Officers
  • Drop Duchy Complete
  • Sledders, Dicefolk
  • Our Adventurer Guild.

With the exception of the cop game, which doesn’t look remarkably different from any of countless other cop games on Steam (though I will confess I have not played it, so maybe it is great), these are all rather well-regarded games—either by us here at PCG or by fans on Steam.

Neon White is probably the most universally beloved: a fast-paced shooter that we scored 85%, writing “these blistering platforming time trials are a heavenly delight.” It does have some remarkably, deliberately cliche anime writing, but hey, you can always mute it. It also features Spike Spiegel’s English VA in a lead role, just in case you needed more anime-related motivation.

Tunic, meanwhile, is a game in the style of the ancient Zeldas that we scored 86%, declaring that “delightfully difficult combat and meaningful exploration make Tunic a retro-inspired modern marvel.” As for Sea of Stars, it asks one question: Do you like very pretty RPGs that are very much like Chrono Trigger? If so, you will want to grab it. As for the rest, all of them have their stalwarts, and Drop Duchy in particular has earned high praise in these pages before.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

If you fancy grabbing them all, they can be had for $15 / £11.50. Just, you know, remember to cancel the sub once you’ve gotten your keys, unless you’re willing to roll the dice on the months to come.
