Few things scream Halo so much as venting a Grunt’s cranium to the sound of cheering children and a burst of confetti. Well, you’ll be glad to know that Grunt Birthday Party is still available in Halo: Campaign Evolved. This skull collectible, alongside the other 32 added to the game, is actually available in the new bonus missions.

Though this guide won’t contain anything particularly spoilery, I will describe a few details about the final bonus mission in order to indicate where the skull is, so be aware. All that said, here’s where to find Grunt Birthday Party.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Grunt Birthday Party location

You can find Grunt Birthday Party in the third and final bonus mission, Heavy Burden, so not in the main campaign itself. The skull is accessible in the second section, ‘Two-Fisted Cyborg Justice’. If you’ve already completed the mission, then you’ll want to load into Rally Point Bravo, after you and Johnson acquire the info from the bridge.

Follow the nav markers down the lift, continue along the route until you ascend up another short lift, then carry on until you reach the spot shown in the video above—a big room with a load of purple torches to your left that you’ll enter into on the upper level. Descend the short stairs ahead, look to your left, and you can spot the skull on top of a tall rock sculpture in the center of the room.

To reach this, you need to head over to the central raised platform you can also see to your left—you can get here by dropping down or via the walkway to your left. Then hop into the torch on its edge, and sprint jump over to the lower level of the rock sculpture. You can then jump up and grab the skull to unlock Grunt Birthday Party.

If you want to make the skull active, simply choose the ‘new game’ option or any mission and then toggle it on in the skull menu before loading in. It will stay active for any successive missions you play after that.
